Since we found great success in working with other clubs the previous month, our cabinet thought it would be best to have another interclub event this month. We have been trying to boost member participation in quarantine, so we searched for ideas that were easy to participate virtually in to gain those members. We decided on doing the UNICEF Math Challenge, where participants do basic mathematics in rounds to raise money for UNICEF programs. This was an interclub event with several other clubs in our division, including Hilltop, Bonita Vista, Sweetwater, SDSCPA, Mar Vista, and Lincoln.
Over the course of 2 weeks, each of the clubs held a Google Meets event where members from all the clubs could come to do the challenge, chit-chat, and listen to music to participate in the event for an hour or so. This was a very successful event for both our club and for the division, as Mater Dei raised over $2,000 for UNICEF, and the division itself raised over $25,000 for UNICEF in the event! This event also found us success in boosting member participation, as we had many more members active in the event than any other over the summer.
